UPF Ratings

UPF Rated Fabric

This fabric provides high protection against UVA and UVB radiation.

The UPF value of a fabric may be influenced by many factors, including:

  • Tightness of the weave or knit
  • Size of the yarns used
  • Fiber content or opacity of the yarns
  • Optical brighteners used in dyeing; and
  • Color of the fabric (light color tend to have a lower UPF rating than dark colors)

We adjust all of these factors to develop performance garments that excel at their intended sport while providing optimal sun protection. Mountain Hardwear does NOT use any UV-absorbing fabric finishes. These wear off over time, and we don't like the idea of adding anything to your clothing that doesn't need to be there. Smart Designs. Smart Technology.
